Exchange Order for Taiwan Railway & Taiwan High Speed Rail JOINT PASS
1.
The Exchange Order for a JOINT PASS can only be used for the purpose of exchanging for a JOINT PASS; it cannot be used for boarding the trains.
2.
The Exchange Order for a JOINT PASS must be used before the valid date to exchange for a JOINT PASS at the Taiwan High Speed Rail or Taiwan Railway Administration ticket windows. (At specified TRA ticket windows only)
3.
Please present the Exchange Order and your passport when exchanging. If the original copy of your passport cannot be presented, or if the passport identity is different to that of the Exchange Order, THSR and TRA reserve the right to refuse the exchange.
4.
The valid period of the PASS should be specified when exchanging; it is calculated based on the consecutive accumulation of days from the starting date, within 30 days from the date the PASS was issued; once the starting date is set, it cannot be changed.
5.
Should the Exchange Order be lost, damaged or stolen, no reissuance, application for loss or refund will be accepted.
6.
Refund is only available if the Exchange Order has not been used and is within the valid period. Refund process can only be handled from the original issuing office and a 10% fee will be applied to each refund.
7.
Once the Exchange Order is exchanged for a JOINT PASS, no form of change or return will be accepted.
8.
The Exchange Order for Children is only suitable for children from age 6 to and including age 11. Please present the passport when exchanging the JOINT PASS; if disqualified, THSR and TRA reserve the right to refuse the exchange.

JOINT PASS

The JOINT PASS can only be used by the individual owner and is not transferable.
2.
The PASS is limited to use within the valid period. The passenger is permitted to take the Taiwan High Speed Rail and Taiwan Railway Administration trains for an unlimited number of times during the valid period. The valid period of the PASS should be specified when exchanging; it is calculated based on the consecutive accumulation of days from the starting date, within 30 days from the date the PASS was issued; once the starting date is set, it cannot be changed.

The PASS allows the passenger to board the THSR or TRA trains:

Not applicable for business class carriage.
This PASS is valid for travel in non-reserved seat cars. For reserved seating, please bring the PASS and the original copy of the passport at any station ticket window. There are no additional charges for reservations. No online or telephone reservations will be accepted.
TRA
Passenger cannot board the tourism express, liner express or any other express trains specified by TRA.
Passenger can board the Taroko Express and group express only if seats are available.
During peak hours or national holidays, seat availability is not guaranteed.

When traveling with the PASS, the passenger is limited to enter and exit the stations via the manned gates; please bring the original copy of passport for verification purposes. If the passport cannot be presented, or the identity on the PASS does not match the passenger, the passenger will not be allowed to board the train; those who have already boarded the train will be asked to purchase another ticket.
5.
When taking the THSR reserved standard seat with a PASS, please board the train in accordance with the seating information specified in the inner pages of the PASS during reservation. When taking the TRA trains, please present the reserved seat tickets.
6.
The PASS does not accept any form of change or return. If the PASS is lost, damaged or stolen, no reissuance, application for loss or refunds will be given.
7.
During extraordinary circumstances such as train delays, interruption of service or cancellation of trains, the PASS will not be compensated for, nor will the valid period be extended.
8.
Only the original copy of the PASS is valid; any photocopying, alteration, forging or damage that is beyond recognition will be deemed invalid.
