Tickets are available for sale 28 days prior to and including the departure date.
An early bird discount of 30 % off is offered no later than 15 days before the departure date (including the departure date). If tickets are sold out in advance, then tickets with an early bird discount of 10% off are offered.
An early bird discount of 10 % off is offered no later than 8 days before the departure date (including the departure date). If tickets are sold out in advance, then full fare tickets are offered.
For example, if a passenger wishes to ride with THSR on 2011/03/01, he or she has the chance to purchase a ticket at the early bird discount of 30 % off from 2011/02/02 to 2011/02/15. If the 30 % off discount tickets are sold out, tickets with an early bird discount of 10% are offered. The passenger has the chance to purchase a ticket with an early bird discount of 10 % off by 2011/02/22 and if the 10 % off discount tickets are sold out, then tickets without a discount are offered. Tickets purchased after 2011/02/23 will return to their original prices.
Early bird discount applies to Reserved Standard Seats and adult tickets only (excluding business class, non-reserved seats, preferential tickets, group tickets and other promotion programs).
Early bird discount is available at all booking channels. For the convenience of passengers, it is recommended that tickets are purchased through the THSR online booking system, phone booking hotline, or THSR partnered convenience stores.
THSR’s online booking system also is able to search for trains with an early bird discount. Passengers are able to search for available trains with an early bird discount.
Seats with the early bird discount are allocated according to riding capacities of peak or off peak time. Each day, each train has different number of seats with early bird discount available.
Mornings from Mondays to Saturdays, afternoons on Fridays and afternoons on Sunday are super peak times when the early bird discount is not offered.
Reserved seat tickets are valid for the designated date and train number.
When passengers with reserved seat tickets are not able to catch their trains, they may take other available trains on the same day with THSR staff assistance. However, passengers shall pay the difference in case of insufficient payment and no extra amount will be refunded in case of overpayment.
Change of reserved seat ticket or refund shall be applied for no later than 30 minutes prior to the designated departure time of the specific train.
In the event that passengers require to change their rides, the ticket price shall be re-calculated according to the newest available discount rate at that time. The difference between the two will be refunded in case of overpayment or will require make up of payment in case of insufficient payment. The application for change of ride shall be made without processing fee for one time only. The changed tickets will be marked change. Application for another change of ride with tickets marked change will be deemed as return and then re-purchase. The processing fee of NT$20 will be charged per ticket.
When purchasing multiple tickets in one order, customers can only enjoy early bird discounts when there are still available seats allocated.
If any changes or return of tickets with early bird discount within the discount period are applied, the original seats offered with early bird discount will be released to other passengers.
Changes in the discount rates, date, and other rules shall be subject to further announcement. THSR Corporation reserves the right to change or terminate this program.
Unless it is regulated otherwise herein, the rest of operations shall abide by the regulations of the Passenger Information, Passenger Transportation Rules and any relevant laws and rulings accordingly.
